The Rankato Alt Text Generator uses a vision model to draft alt text for each image — 8–15 words, describing what's in the image with SEO-friendly keywords. What good alt text looks like

Length: 8–15 words. Format: what's shown, key visual attributes, context if relevant. Bad: 'image'. Good: 'A red 2024 Tesla Model S parked on a mountain road at sunset.' The generator aims for this pattern; every output is editable so you can add context the model missed.

SEO considerations

For product pages, include the product name — 'Nike Air Force 1 white sneaker on gray background' beats 'white sneaker'. For blog images, mention the post's topic if it's not clear from the image. Alt text isn't a keyword stuffing opportunity — Google is smart enough to penalize that.

Does this replace human-written alt text?+

For accessibility auditors, no — AI-generated alt text is a starting point, not a final answer. But for a legacy site with 500 missing alt texts, AI drafts are far better than nothing.

What model does the tool use?+

A hosted vision model (Claude Vision or similar). This is one of the few Rankato image tools that runs on our servers rather than fully in-browser — vision models are too large to ship to a browser.

Are my images uploaded?+

Yes — they're sent to the model provider for inference, then discarded. If that's a privacy concern, this specific tool is not the right choice; every other image tool in the suite is 100% client-side.
