Merge PDFs in your browser

Drop up to 20 PDFs, drag them into the order you want, and download a single combined PDF. Batch merge is available on the Pro plan.

Combining PDFs is one of the most common day-to-day office tasks — you have three scans, two receipts, and a signed contract and you need to send them as a single document. The Rankato PDF Merger does exactly that in seconds: drop files, drag to reorder, download. Every operation runs client-side using pdf-lib, so your PDFs never touch a server. That matters when the files contain contracts, financial records, or anything else you'd rather not upload to a stranger.

Reorder before you merge

File order in the sidebar becomes page order in the output. Drag rows up and down, or use the arrow buttons for finer control. Click any row to see a page-by-page preview and remove specific pages before combining — useful when you have a 30-page scan and only need pages 5–12 merged with another document.

Format compatibility

Accepts any standard PDF — PDF 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, and PDF/A. Password-protected PDFs are supported if you provide the password; otherwise the tool warns and skips. Files with embedded fonts, images, forms, and annotations all merge correctly with their content preserved. The output is a valid PDF 1.7 that every PDF reader (Acrobat, Preview, browser viewers) opens without issue.

Output size and performance

Merged output size is roughly the sum of input sizes. Combining ten 5 MB PDFs produces a ~50 MB result — pdf-lib doesn't recompress content, only concatenates. Need a smaller result? Run the output through the Compress PDF tool afterward. Processing time for typical merges is 1–3 seconds per file on a modern laptop; larger scanned PDFs take longer because they carry more embedded raster data.

Tool FAQs

Everything you need to know about using Merge PDF.

Does my PDF get uploaded to a server?+

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib and pdf.js loaded as WebAssembly. Open your browser's Network tab while processing and you'll see zero uploads — your PDFs never leave your device. That's why confidential contracts, tax records, and internal docs are safe to run through this tool.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?+

Yes — enter the password when prompted. The tool decrypts in memory, merges, and outputs an unprotected PDF (add a new password with the Password-Protect tool if you need one).

Can I process multiple PDFs at once?+

Yes — batch mode is available on the Pro plan. Free users process one file at a time. Pro unlocks unlimited concurrent PDF processing across every tool in the suite.
