Scanners and older printers don't add page numbers; sometimes you get a PDF where you really need them for citation or cross-reference. The Rankato Page Numberer adds numbers to every page using pdf-lib. Full control over format, position, starting number, and page skipping.
Formats
Arabic (1, 2, 3), Roman lower (i, ii, iii), Roman upper (I, II, III), page-of-total ("1 of 20"), letter (A, B, C), or custom template (e.g., Page {n} — Confidential). Prefix and suffix strings add context.
Position and styling
Nine positions — top/bottom × left/center/right. Font (system serif, sans, mono), size (8-14pt), color. Add underline or bold if desired. Margin from the page edge is configurable.
Skip and offset
Skip the first N pages (leave title/TOC unnumbered). Set a starting number other than 1 (useful when merging into a larger document). Numbering can restart per section using page ranges.
