Connect Google Search Console# Link to this article

Connecting Search Console lets Rankato read your real impressions, clicks and query data, and join it to crawl and ranking data for the same URLs.

Google Search Console is the only source of your true query and click data. Connecting it turns several Rankato reports from estimates into measurements.

Connect it# Link to this section

  1. Open your project and go to Settings → Integrations, or open the Search Console report.
  2. Choose Connect Google Search Console.
  3. Sign in with the Google account that owns — or has at least read access to — the property.
  4. Grant the read-only Search Console scope. Rankato never requests write access to your Google account.
  5. Pick the property that matches your project domain. Domain properties and URL-prefix properties both work; pick the one whose data you actually want.

What Rankato does with it# Link to this section

  • Shows impressions, clicks, CTR and average position by query and by page.
  • Joins query data to crawl data, so you can see which pages have demand but a technical problem.
  • Accepts GSC ownership as proof of domain verification.

Things to expect# Link to this section

Google publishes Search Console data on a delay — typically two to three days — and applies its own filtering to low-volume queries. Rankato shows Google's numbers as Google reports them and labels the date range, rather than smoothing or extrapolating them.

The first import pulls your available history and can take a while on large properties. After that, Rankato refreshes on a schedule.
