Add Your First Tracked Keywords# Link to this article

Add the keywords you want to watch, pick the country and device they should be checked on, and Rankato starts building position history from that day forward.

Rank Tracker records where your pages appear in Google for the terms you choose, and keeps that history so you can see movement rather than a single snapshot.

Add keywords# Link to this section

  1. Open your project and choose Rank Tracker.
  2. Choose Add keywords and paste one term per line. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  3. Select the country and device. These are part of the keyword's identity — the same term tracked on mobile in the UK and desktop in the US are two tracked keywords and consume two slots.
  4. Optionally tag the batch (for example commercial or blog) so you can filter later.
  5. Save. Your plan's tracked-keyword allowance is checked before anything is added.

What to track first# Link to this section

  • Terms you already rank for on page two — the fastest wins.
  • Your main commercial pages' primary terms.
  • A handful of brand terms, as a canary for bigger problems.

Tracking thousands of terms on day one rarely helps. Start with the set you would actually act on.

When positions appear# Link to this section

The first check is queued as soon as you save, usually landing within a few hours. History builds from that point forward — Rankato does not back-fill positions from before you started tracking, because it has no honest source for them.
