How Indexing Monitoring Works# Link to this article
Rankato submits your URLs through supported channels and then independently monitors whether Google has actually indexed them — submission and indexing are tracked separately, because they are different things.
Indexing has two halves: asking search engines to look, and confirming they did. Rankato tracks both and never conflates them.
Submission# Link to this section
For a verified project, Rankato can submit URLs through the channels available for your domain. Submission requires ownership because you are acting on your own property — this is why domain verification is a prerequisite.
Every submission is recorded with its timestamp, the channel used, and the response received. A submission is a request, never a guarantee.
Monitoring# Link to this section
Separately, Rankato checks whether each URL is actually present in the index, and records the result over time. This is the number that matters. The gap between "submitted" and "indexed" is the report you should be reading.
What the statuses mean# Link to this section
- Submitted — Rankato sent the URL and the channel accepted the request.
- Accepted — the channel confirmed receipt. Still not indexed.
- Indexed — the URL was independently observed in the index.
- Not indexed — checked, and not present.
- Excluded — the URL itself blocks indexing, via
noindex, a canonical pointing elsewhere, or a robots rule.
Limits# Link to this section
Submission volume is capped by your plan and by the channel's own quotas. Rankato queues within those limits rather than exceeding them, and shows the remaining allowance before you submit.
The distinction between accepted and indexed is explained in detail in Accepted vs Indexed.
