The site health score is a weighted summary of the issues found on the pages Rankato actually crawled. It is a navigation aid, not a ranking prediction.
After every audit Rankato shows a site health score. It exists to tell you whether things are getting better or worse between runs — not to predict where you will rank.
How it is computed# Link to this section
Each check has a fixed severity weight. The score is the proportion of crawled pages that pass, weighted by the severity of what they fail. Critical issues pull the score down far harder than informational ones, and an issue that affects one page counts less than the same issue across a template.
The score is deterministic: the same crawl data always produces the same score. It is never smoothed, and it is never adjusted by an AI model.
Why it can move without you changing anything# Link to this section
- The crawl covered a different set of pages. A larger page limit reaches deeper, lower-quality URLs; a smaller one does not. Compare runs with the same limit.
- The site changed. New content ships with new issues.
- A server problem during the crawl. Timeouts count as failures, so a slow deploy window can dent a score.
How to use it# Link to this section
Do not chase 100. Open the issue list, sort by severity, and fix the template-level problems first. The score will follow. A score that is stable while critical issues are unresolved is less useful than a lower score with the right things being fixed.
Every score component links to the underlying check and the URLs it was computed from, so nothing is a black box.
